This is a wonderful pair of shoes made in an asymmetrical slingback style. The toe box has a cross strap “latticed upper with a closed toe. The uppers are made of “Karung which is a snake that is found in river beds in Indonesia - its skin resembles a lizard skin due to the small tightly form scaling. The shoes have a strap that goes along the exterior of the shoe and buckles to the back strap. These came from the estate of a shopaholic who bought much more than she could ever wear, so these saw very little use. This pair comes with its original shoe box - the labels read “Babylonia Mustard and “Karung. I photographed the shoes with a foam insert, but these are not affixed in any way, can easily be removed without damaging the inner sole. They come with a Joan & David shoe box, but I dont think that the box is a match to the shoes.
Maker: Joan & David Couture. Hand Made in Italy. Joan and David started their business in 1967 with a target market of working women who had to “run through an airport in heels. Their strategy was to specialize in elegant shoes that were not high-heeled, for the business woman.
Color: Brown & Yellowy Beige
Material: Karung (snake skin)
Sizing: The shoes are marked as a size 7. They are narrow. The insoles measure 9 1/2 from the tip of the toe to the very back of the insole. The soles measure 3 in width at the widest.
Condition: They are in very good condition with no wear except for some soiling/wear to the soles, but this is quite minor. Otherwise, these look to have seen very little use and were well cared for over the years.
This is a wonderful quality pair of shoes - great if they fit!
